Procedures for transfering an existing phone number to VoIP

Here are the procedures to transfer an existing phone number from any other phone providers. This includes any land-line provider such as Rogers, Bell, Primus, etc, as well as VoIP providers such as Vonage, Primus TBB, etc. We also transfer cellular phone numbers.

Step 1: Verify if your number can be transfered

Existing phone numbers can only be transfered when the number is local to one of our dial-up access numbers (see our list of servers numbers on this page). If none of those numbers are local to you, this means that we cannot transfer your existing phone number.

Here are the cities we are allowed to transfer your phone number. You could always find out which city Rate Centre you belong to by going to this link: Rate Center Check you will need to enter your area code and your NXX (meaning your first 3 digits of your phone number after the area code) and press submit

Step 2: Order VIF IP Phone Service

Choose whether or not you wish to have the DSL or Cable Internet service with us as well (see bundle page), and order the service. You will need to provide us with the phone number you wish to transfer. We will take care of cancelling your own provider - we will take care of that.

We will need fax copy or photocopy of your current phone provider's invoice to transfer the number (not more than 30days passed), as a physical proof of your ownership of the number.

Step 3: Wait 10 days

It takes 10 days to transfer an existing phone number to our service. In the meantime, if you ordered high-speed service with us, we'll be installing it so you do not lose your phone and Internet!

Step 4: Enjoy!

Your service is now active with the new phone number. We currently do not have documentation for the VoIP service. Don't worry, we're working on this! In the meantime, it works just like your regular phone.
