How to know if the Ovislink is installed correctly

A good way would be to interrogate the modem by making a PING on the address of the modem

  1. Start
  2. Run
  3. Type “Command” for Win95/98/ME
  4. Type “CMD” for Win 2000/Win XP
  5. Command Prompt will open (a little black window)
  6. Ask the client to type PING 192.168.1.254
  7. The client should receive the response “Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0”
  8. If the client doesn't recieve this response, it is necessary to fix the properties of the network card (see section “the pages are not being displayed with the Ovislink modem”)
  9. If the customer receives an answer after having made a PING, the modem answers and should be operational.
  10. If the customer receives “Timeouts Request”, see the following section
